What Therapy with Me Looks Like

Therapy with me is active, relational, and focused on helping you understand what's actually keeping you stuck. I work with individuals and couples who are tired of having the same arguments, reactions, anxieties, or relationship patterns show up over and over again, and want something more than temporary relief.

Together, we focus on making sense of what is happening beneath the surface, healing the parts of you that have been carrying too much for too long, and creating meaningful change in the way you relate to yourself, others, and your everyday life.

This work is LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcoming of clients from diverse identities, backgrounds, relationship structures, and lived experiences.

Individual Therapy

Therapy for the Parts of You That Still Feel Stuck

Many of the people I work with have spent a long time reflecting, reading, and trying to create change. They have a sense of how they got here, but still find themselves reacting, struggling, or getting stuck.

What they're looking for is a way to help those old wounds stop having quite so much say in their present-day lives. That's where many of the approaches I use can create the kind of shifts that talking about the problem alone doesn't always reach.

In individual therapy, we may work on:

  • Trauma and attachment wounds
  • Emotional overwhelm and anxiety
  • Perfectionism, overfunctioning, and people-pleasing
  • Boundaries, co-dependency, and relationship patterns
  • Reconnecting with your needs and emotions
  • Building more flexibility in how you respond and move through life

Depending on you, your story, and what's showing up, we may draw from approaches like:

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma reprocessing that helps get the old stuff unstuck
  • Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) for learning that your emotions are not as scary as they feel
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) for when the different parts of you are all trying to help, but having trouble getting on the same team
  • Relational Life Therapy (RLT) for learning how to stay connected when relationships bring out your messiest self
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for when anxiety has turned your brain into an overprepared project manager
  • Attachment Theory for the part of you that wants closeness but is also terrified of getting hurt
  • Mindfulness for slowing down instead of spiraling
  • Gottman Leader, Lessons in Love for when you're about three bad dates away from giving up on dating entirely

Sessions are held virtually, right from your favorite place in the world, your home. So wear your comfiest clothes, grab a cup of coffee, and settle in. Some clients choose to take their sessions on the road, from between meetings to an Airbnb while traveling.

Individual sessions are 55 minutes and offered at a rate of $200 per session.

Couples Therapy

For Couples Who Care About Their Relationship, But Don't Always Know How to Show It

Couples therapy is not just about better communication. Communication matters, but most couples already know they "should communicate better." The harder part is understanding why the same dynamic keeps taking over, even when both people are trying.

In our work together, we look beneath the conflict and explore the cycle driving it. We begin to understand what each person brings into the relationship, how past experiences shape reactions and defenses, and why the same moments can feel so emotionally charged, repetitive, or difficult to move through.

Many of the couples I work with care deeply about one another, but still find themselves stuck in the same arguments, disconnection, shutdown, defensiveness, or hurt. This work is best suited for couples who are willing to look at themselves, not just their partner, and who want to better understand what is happening between them, not just solve the surface-level problem.

In couples therapy, we may work on:

  • Reducing reactive conflict
  • Understanding attachment patterns and protective reactions
  • Rebuilding connection and trust
  • Learning how to repair instead of repeating the same cycle
  • Communicating in a way that actually lands
  • Creating a relationship that feels more secure, honest, and resilient
The goal is to learn how to relate differently, especially in the moments where it would be easier to protect, blame, shut down, or keep having the same fight.

Depending on the couple, the cycle, and what keeps happening between you, I may draw from approaches like:

  • Relational Life Therapy (RLT) for when your protective strategies start running the relationship
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level 3 Practicum Trained (also Gottman Leader, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work) for helping conflict feel less like a competition and more like an actual conversation
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for when the argument starts about the dishes and somehow ends with both of you questioning the entire relationship
  • Family Centered Treatment (FCT) for when the relationship gets buried underneath stress, reactivity, and survival mode
  • Systemic Family Therapy for when both of you keep accidentally playing roles you didn't consciously sign up for

Couples therapy is held virtually through video sessions, allowing for flexibility and convenience for both you and your partner's schedules. Whether you're joining from the couch at home or squeezing in a session between the realities of everyday life, we'll meet wherever works best for you.

Couples sessions are offered in two formats:

  • Up to 55 minutes: $200 per session
  • Up to 90 minutes: $275 per session

Therapeutic Coaching

Coaching That Goes Beyond Goal Setting

Therapy is not always the right fit for everyone. Some people are looking for deeper support and honest conversations outside of a traditional therapy framework. They are looking for meaningful change and someone who can help them untangle the patterns, relationship dynamics, emotional reactions, and stuck points that keep showing up in their lives.

Therapeutic coaching offers a direct, collaborative, and grounded approach, without turning growth into a bunch of buzzwords and vague advice. As a certified life coach, I bring the same relational, trauma-informed, and insight-oriented lens into this work that shapes my therapy practice. This work is rooted in honest conversations, deeper self-understanding, and meaningful shifts, not pretending healing happens through morning routines and positive thinking alone.

One of the things I value most about coaching is the ability to support people looking for deeper, more honest, and more relational work, regardless of where they are located in the world. Coaching meets you wherever you are, without location restrictions.

Sessions are held virtually, meeting you wherever life happens to be happening.

Coaching sessions are up to 55 minutes and offered at a rate of $200 per session.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Where do you offer therapy?

I offer virtual therapy for clients located in the states where I currently hold an active license. This includes Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington, and North Carolina, with California coming soon. For clients located outside of those states, I offer therapeutic coaching. All sessions are held virtually, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your home, while traveling, or wherever life happens to be happening.

Do you accept insurance?

This is a private-pay practice, which allows our work together to stay more flexible, individualized, and confidential. One of the benefits of not utilizing insurance is the ability to focus on your actual needs and goals, rather than what insurance deems medically necessary or appropriate for treatment. Private-pay work also allows clients to engage in support without requiring a mental health diagnosis to become part of their permanent medical record. For many people, this creates more freedom, privacy, and flexibility within the therapeutic process.

How often will we meet?

I typically recommend weekly or every other week sessions, depending on your needs, goals, and capacity. Consistent sessions help us build momentum, deepen the relationship, and strengthen commitment to the therapeutic process.

While consistency is important to our ongoing work, many clients start with a one-time session to get a feel for whether working together could be a good fit. From there, we can decide together what ongoing work might look like. If meeting regularly feels difficult or unrealistic right now, it may be a sign that this is not the right season or fit. I want you to feel set up for success, and consistency is an important ingredient in that process.

I’m interested in therapy, but not psychedelics. Can we still work together?

Absolutely. Psychedelic preparation and integration is one area of my practice, but many of my therapy clients have no interest in psychedelics whatsoever. I work with people around relationships, attachment, trauma, life transitions, emotional patterns, and the many other complicated parts of being human.

You also don’t need to share my interests for me to be interested in you. My interests are part of what I bring to the work, but our work together is about you.
